Shay and I wont be able to see you guys in April so this is my way of cheering us on.
Its been about a month. Shayla and I have been working hard to make changes that will stick here, there, and everywhere. Some things we are doing great and others still need work, but have come a long way already. I'm sure you are having similar experiences. Life doesn't allow for a simple and easy transition to eating perfectly and exercising like a pro everyday. We all have to fight for every little change, every simple step that takes us closer to our goals. Sometimes I get confused and take a huge step then have to take a couple small steps backwards, realizing that progress happens in a steady, consistent, and metered way. One of those progress points I always look forward to is regular exercise.
Every time I get to the point where exercise is regular and frequent I get this feeling. It's a good feeling. An emotion that makes you stand taller and push harder each time you take that familiar first pedal out on the bike trail, lace up those beautifully worn in running shoes and stretch for the miles to come, smell that rubbery yet stale gym fragrance just inside the door, or inhale the fresh not quite springtime air on the wooded path that will take you miles from civilization. I call it accomplishment. Even though you have more work to do, and lets face it we will never be finished exercising, you still feel you've done something. You feel like you have made a change in yourself by getting in a workout one last time in a week, get hyped for the first workout of the week, or even push through the mid week blues. By the end of the workout you feel like a skinny person. Even though I am not skinny I feel that way, and that makes me push harder. It's that feeling that hooks me every week to keep going the next, fighting harder for that healthy body I'm working so hard for.
That feeling is as contagious as it is addictive. So setting the friendly competition aside I'd like to tell you that "We got this!" Keep going, keep fighting to get that addiction to accomplishment. If you are already a Dopamine addict keep up the hard work and pass on the the encouragement to everyone.
